Typing French and German on a QWERTY Keyboard

French people use a keyboard layout that's completely different from QWERTY - the most popular layout in the world; people learning French often can't just go out and buy a new laptop right away, so every time they need to type these special characters, they usually have to press alt + e, or switch to the international layout, but I find the international layout a bit backwards - when you want to type é, you actually have to press ' before e;

Similarly, German has some special letters, so using a standard keyboard means you won't be able to type those characters
