4 Simple Steps to Start Your Listening Journey with WELE
Welcome to WELE! If you're reading this, you've probably heard about the dictation method and want to try it out. This is a great decision!
In this article, I'll guide you through 4 basic steps to start using WELE effectively.
Step 1: Access the Podcast Page
First, go to wele-learn.com/podcasts . This is where all listening exercises are organized by topics and difficulty levels.
If you're new, I recommend choosing the "Test Your Ability" category. These are specially designed for beginners, with slow speech and basic vocabulary.
Step 2: Choose a Suitable Lesson
After entering the category, you'll see a list of lessons. Each one shows:
- Audio length
- Number of words to fill
- Source (Spotlight English, 6 Minute English, etc.)
Pick any lesson that interests you. Don't worry about choosing the "right" one - the most important thing is that you start!
Once you've chosen, click "Listen with Hints". This feature shows some words in advance, helping you follow along and fill in the missing ones.
Step 3: Listen and Dictate
This is the most important part. When the audio starts:
- Focus on listening - Don't rush to fill words, listen to a short section first
- Fill in the blanks - Type the words you hear
- Don't fear mistakes - Errors are part of learning
- Use the replay button - If unclear, listen to that part again
When done, click "Submit". The system will grade your work and show which words were correct or wrong.
Tip: Don't stress about your first score. The goal is to get familiar with the method, not to score high immediately.
Step 4: Review and Learn from Mistakes
After submission, you'll see detailed results. Take time to:
- Review words you got wrong
- Listen again to understand why you missed them
- Note new words in a notebook or app
This is when real learning happens. When you realize where and why you made mistakes, your brain remembers much better than just reading vocabulary.
Conclusion
Starting a new skill is always challenging. But with the dictation method, you'll see clear progress after just a few weeks of consistent practice.
Remember: Consistency is key. Just 15-30 minutes daily will make a huge difference in your English learning journey.
Happy learning!
