Hello everyone, have you ever felt ANXIETY when a deadline approaches? That feeling is really uncomfortable, isn’t it? Suddenly you can’t eat well, can’t sleep peacefully, and you’re just constantly worrying. However, according to DOCTOR Randolph Nesse, he believes there is a close relationship between EVOLUTION and ANXIETY. Specifically, Anxiety is the result of NATURAL SELECTION. This natural selection SHAPED organisms to COPE WITH certain living conditions. In particular, the professor believes that our SUFFERING FROM this worry, or the emergence of this worry within us, is a good thing. Because when our body REACTS to DANGER, anxiety acts as an EMERGENCY RESPONSE. For example, in extremely dangerous situations, like LIFE-THREATENING SITUATIONS, anxiety serves as a warning for you to act or prepare to act immediately.

For instance, when you're writing an article or nearing an exam. When the deadline is tight, the anxiety will take over you, reminding you “Hey, write faster, it’s almost time to submit!” That’s why anxiety is the reason people often feel more motivated to write or sit down to study. And anxiety can be the best medicine for procrastination.
