Hey everyone, this week we will listen to Slow English - Podcast 35 about “A Wedding in Australia” with the introduction by admin Phuong Linh - the inspiration of admin Linh when writing this article was when they learned that one of the admins is about to have a wedding

Marital commitment is not just a simple marriage vow and wedding rings, but it must also be recognized by law. In Australia, to validate a marriage, all regulations in The Marriage Act must be complied with, particularly requiring a marriage celebrant, officially recognized by the government, to conduct the wedding ceremony. In the speech of this celebrant, it often includes the phrase “Marriage, according to law in Australia, is the union of a man and a woman to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life.” Because of this definition, alongside many other arguments, there is currently much debate surrounding the legalization of same-sex marriage – one of the hottest issues in Australia in 2017. The narrative about the wedding of two friends of the author at the end of the article will provide us with interesting vocabulary and expressions to describe a wedding; everyone remember to listen until the end to equip yourself with this skill!
